I am the co-founder of Breach Candy Group (an art-media-technology collective) and founder of Projected Image Productions, a new media architect, a filmmaker and photographer, and a general wanderer living partly in London and rest of the time in Mumbai.
I recently completed an hour long documentary called ‘Auto, My Love’ (Auto Meri Jaan), which is an hour long film on the origins and the quirkiness of this popular form of transport. I have also contributed to Current TV, started one of the first videoblogs in India, and currently in the process of writing my next film. I have also been featured in CNBC, NY Archives Screening, for my short documentaries on myriad cultural artifacts of India (such as turbans and moustachios)
Apart from films, I take photography as seriously as time permits, and currently on a quest to perfect my style. Lately, I have been playing around with more niche techniques such as HDR, IR & UV photography, and working on a variety of themes around Mumbai.
In technology space, I have played the architect role (as founding member) for at least three web products, the most successful one being Mixercast, which is an adcast creator, and a complete media editing and management platform on the web. Prior to Mixercast, I was part of on creating India’s first p2p real estate portal (Inventica Solutions). However, that ran into funding difficulties and never really took off. I was also part of a charity venture that was started by my friend Pallav Pandey, and helped launch Prayaas (a sustainable venture for ASHA for Education).
Apart from web development, I have worked in embedded systems during my three year stint at Electronics for Imaging (EFI) located in Foster City, CA. I have also interned at EPFL VR & Graphics Lab in Lausanne, Switzerland, and AI Lab, University of Zurich. At that time, my obsession was Artificial Intelligence, VR and Image Processing.
I am also a B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where I attained my one and only degree in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.
Due to the extreme domain shifts that I have made in my life, I have actually become really adept at switching and mixing the creative and the technology sides very well, a skill I believe essential as the world mashes together into one global exotic sandwich. For instance, Final Cut Pro, Motion Graphics, Maya etc come naturally to me as I began in the world which created them.
In the near future, I plan to converge all the disparate parts into one single entity. More about that soon…
